Reviewing a response and requesting changes

The requester reviews what the assigned person submitted, then either completes the task or explains exactly what must be changed.

Who this article is for

Task creators, Team leaders and people permitted to review a task response

Where to find it

  • Open Ready for review on the dashboard or Action Centre.
  • A response-ready notification or task deep link opens the same task detail popup.

Who can review a response

The task creator or a Team leader can review a submitted response. Kinovo prevents an assignee from approving their own response, even if they have wider task permissions.

A response must contain a note or a response-linked file before it can be reviewed. Invoice tasks use their own outcome choices and receipt workflow.

Review what was submitted

  1. 1

    Open the response

Read the written response and preview or download any submitted files you are permitted to access.

  2. 2

    Compare it with the request

Check the original instructions, requested files and any revision instructions already recorded.

  3. 3

    Choose the outcome

Mark the task complete when the response resolves the request, or choose Request changes instead when more work is needed.

Request changes clearly

Enter specific revision instructions that tell the assigned person what is missing, incorrect or needs further explanation. Kinovo returns the task to them as Revision requested and notifies them.

The earlier response remains part of the task history. The assigned person adds the revised response and submits it again for review.

Make the next response obvious

Write the smallest clear change that would make the response acceptable—for example, “Please add the signed page” rather than “Needs more detail.”

Complete the task

Marking the response complete closes the task and records the reviewed outcome. Linked goal progress shows the completed action count, but completing a task does not automatically mark the real-life goal as achieved.

If the review controls are missing

  • Confirm that the task is actually Ready for review rather than still waiting for a response.
  • Check that you are the task creator or a Team leader.
  • Ask the Team leader if your membership or task permissions have changed.
  • Do not ask another person to bypass the review flow by directly editing the task state.
