Creating and reviewing goals

Goals keep the desired outcome visible while linked actions and information show the practical work supporting it—without pretending to measure real-life progress as a percentage.

Who this article is for

Care-team members who plan, own or follow shared outcomes

Where to find it

  • Open Goals & Tasks inside the care-team workspace and choose Create goal.
  • Professionals can also choose Goal from Create in the Action Centre after selecting a client, if their role permits it.

Create a useful goal

  1. 1

    Name the desired outcome

Enter a clear Goal title that describes the change the care team is working toward.

  2. 2

    Add helpful context

Optionally add a Goal description, owner and target date. Keep the description focused on the outcome rather than a long project plan.

  3. 3

    Create the goal

Kinovo starts the goal in Not started unless its status is deliberately changed.

  4. 4

    Link the supporting work

Connect tasks and relevant documents so the team can see the concrete actions and information behind the outcome.

Use an honest goal status

  • Not started — meaningful work has not begun.
  • Under way — the care team is actively working toward the outcome.
  • Waiting — progress depends on somebody or something else.
  • At risk — the outcome needs attention because timing, ownership or another issue may prevent it.
  • Achieved — the desired outcome has genuinely been reached.

Goals are not calculated percentages

Kinovo shows exact linked-action counts instead. Completing every linked task does not prove that a real-life outcome has been achieved, so Achieved is a deliberate decision.

Review the goal

Open a goal to see its owner, target, current status, latest update, next action and linked work. Switch between all linked actions and your own actions when that control is available.

Kinovo brings overdue, revision-requested, due-today, high-priority and other open work forward when identifying the next linked action.

Keep the outcome current

  • Update the status when the real situation changes.
  • Change the owner or target date when responsibility or timing changes.
  • Link new tasks instead of placing every operational detail in the description.
  • Mark the goal achieved only when the outcome itself has been reached.
  • Leave goals optional—ordinary tasks, documents and Care Protocols can still be useful without one.

Permissions and proposals

Goal creation and editing follow the member’s care-team permissions. A personal account without direct goal-management permission may propose work for the Team leader rather than publishing it immediately.
